A COMPANION BORN FROM A PIONEERING SPIRIT!

The โ€œSputnikโ€ model by Poljot-International pays tribute to the great era of space exploration. With the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, โ€œSputnik 1,โ€ on October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union marked a historic milestone and opened a new chapter in the exploration of space.

Although the launch had originally been planned for mid-1958, the achievement came even more unexpectedly when the Soviet development was successfully completed and sent into orbit as early as 1957. The spherical satellite orbited the Earth before re-entering the atmosphere and burning up 92 days later.

The watch model of the same name, โ€œSputnikโ€ by Poljot-International, symbolically reflects this historic milestone โ€“ standing for pioneering spirit, progress and the beginning of modern space exploration. Its design takes inspiration from this remarkable achievement and combines the fascination of the cosmos with traditional mechanical watchmaking.

At the heart of this version is the silver-coloured, skeletonised dial, which offers fascinating insights into the mechanical construction of the watch. A second time zone is positioned at 3 oโ€™clock, while a 24-hour indicator at 9 oโ€™clock adds another functional element to the dial. The open-worked design emphasises the technical character of the model and makes the movement an integral part of its visual appearance.

The gold-plated hour and minute hands create an elegant contrast with the silver-coloured dial. Thanks to their white luminous material, the time remains easy to read even in low-light conditions. The interplay of silver tones, visible mechanics and warm gold accents gives the โ€œSputnikโ€ a character that is both technical and refined.

The round stainless-steel case with yellow-gold IP plating creates a particularly striking appearance. With a diameter of 43 millimetres and a height of 14 millimetres, the watch has a strong and distinctive presence on the wrist. The front is protected by high-quality sapphire crystal, while the exhibition case back offers a view of the mechanical movement. The case is water-resistant to 5 ATM.

The overall design is completed by a brown calfskin leather strap. Its classic colour harmonises perfectly with the gold-coloured case and gold-plated hands, adding a warm and elegant touch to the watch.

Inside, the skeletonised and engraved hand-wound calibre 9931-PI powers the watch. The mechanical movement features 17 jewels, operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 36 hours. In addition to the main time display, it features a second time zone at 3 oโ€™clock and a 24-hour indicator at 9 oโ€™clock.

The โ€œSputnikโ€ combines the fascination of one of the most significant moments in the history of space exploration with distinctive mechanical watchmaking. Its silver-coloured skeletonised dial, yellow-gold-plated stainless-steel case and brown calfskin leather strap give this version a particularly elegant yet technical character.

Just like its historic namesake, this model stands for a spirit of discovery, progress and the courage to explore new horizons. Limited to just 400 pieces, the โ€œSputnikโ€ is an exceptional companion for enthusiasts of mechanical watches and the history of space exploration.
